Trip to UK December 2008 and Merry Christmas

HEY guys! Finally back. A memorable trip indeed.

Visited so many places i have never seen before. Like went for my first soccer match, went to the World famous British museum, went to the prehistoric museum, saw dinosaur artifacts, got to go to both Cambridge and Oxford, both being the leading universities of the world. Got to see the famous Beatles zebra crossing, Got to see the Shopping sales over there in Oxford street, Got to sit the Singapore Airlines A380. It was great.

So here are the many pictures during the whole trip. =)

At Changi Airport Terminal 3
So this was the second day at Oxford. Took an hours drive there and the interesting thing is that no cars are actually allowed in the city. Everybody has to park their cars in an area and take a bus to the city. So there are actually many buses and bicycles in that area.

At St Peter's collegeThe streets are mostly made from stone.

Had lunch at this nice Irish restaurant where it offered this realy nice burger and stew for only around 5 pounds each. It was really worth it.

Beautiful Oxford.

So that's what Oxford looks like. haha. The next few days later was spent in Cambridge. Only about an hour's drive from London.

Ok, i was basically just a little hyper there. Haha.
I love this. This is King's college.

Cambridge is really beautiful. The town is lively and i think i would prefer it to Oxford. Although both are very nice.So this is a street band we saw in Cambridge. Its really loud! Haha. They named themselves the "loudest band in Cambridge". Well, basically they have drums and just beat it. Haha. But its nice, sounds catchy.

Oh yes, and this was that shop in Cambridge. Haha, Qianhui, look familiar?

So after that, Ern had to return to Singapore for his N.S. This was at Hethrow Airport. So the next day we spent the night at this Christmas festival called Winter Wonderland in London, Hyde Park.
Some of the stalls selling goodies.
Frosty! where did your arms go!

xD. You see the guy at the back was this freaky robot who couldnt stop laughing. haha.

So the next day, we took the tube to the famous British muesum. The place is just fantastic. There were artefacts from Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, China, India, Egypt, Africa and Europe.
Goodness, this artwork looked so real.
Such an honour to actually see real mummies which have been more than 2000 years old. Mummification was actually meant for high statused people during those time. And its amazing how the skeleton could actually be still intact after so many years.
In China section

And they had this section which wrote the life stories of those children and people who had life threatening diseases. Those small little things are actually drugs.
So after that left for seven sisters station cause thats' where white hart lane stadium is! Was at the ticketing station.

To dare is to do...

Haha, met this guy outisde the stadium and we actually had a delightful conversation. Haha, he's a real spurs fan. Cant rmbr his name though. =\ oh no.
The awesome stadium. spurs!

The players warming up before the match.
And it was the match was great. With people at the sides cheering. And we actually had a live commentator behind us if you know what i mean. "Come on Spurs! Buck it up!" "Come on Jamie son!" "Luka wants it, Luka wants it" "Hey refree, You're weak!" were the comments by these three spurs fan behind us. It was quite an experience. xD

Garren Bale.

Speedy Aaron Lennon. He really turned the game around when he was substituted in after the second half. The score against Spartak Moscow was 2-2 in the end. Great game, with Spurs scoring 2 goals during the second half to equalize. Next day, went to the National History Museum.
Dinosaur Artifacts.

Then this was the Human Biology section.
Shh, dont wake the baby up.
Then we took a trip to Waterloo. This area is where the big ben, London eye, river thames, King college are.

This is a part of King's ceollege.
Haha, actually saw these street performers while walking past river thames.

The big ben and river thames in the back. London eye.

So after that, left for London's War musuem.

And this was actually the bomb "little boy". The one that bombed Hiroshima which helped Singapore gain independence. I am not sure if this was the actual size but i was surprised it was that small and that powerful enough to destroy an entire city.
The next day, we went to Hyde park which was well known for its Speaker's corner. A place where anyone could go and apparently just say whatever you want. Even if it was to critisize the government was what i heard. Haha.

Marble Arch.Went to Harrods as well. Which is known as the most expensive department store in London.
And this was the famous beatles zebra crossing at Abbey street. Haha.

So went to St Paul's Cathedral after that. It's actually prestigious cause Prince Charles and Princess Diana actually got married there and Sir Wiston Chruchill (Prime minister of Britain during the World War 2) is burried in there.

Haha, just playing around.

Walked past Charles Dickens house as well.

Haha, i guess we ruined that kind of a prestigious atmosphere there. Then went on to my dad's hostel in which in stayed in when he was studying here.

The eating hall reminds me of those Harry potter kind of place.

Then went to Malaysian Hall. This is actually a place where the malaysians actually used meet up and catch up. But now it seems like it has turned more into a hotel instead.
Ok then took a walk to Chinatown to buy some groceries. Oh my goodness, i had this experience here that me and my family would never forget. Never eat the wanton mee here cause its just the worst you would ever taste! Well, thats how i felt when we went into this Chinese restaurant thinking that a bowl of Wanton noodles for 3 pounds was actually worth it. But me and my mum just had to agree that it was really the worst we had ever tasted! Gosh, i can really say not as good as instant noodles. Haha, at least this is something we would never forget.
So then this was my cousin's place where we stayed in.

So on the 23th of December, bye bye to london. Took the A380 back to Singapore. It was really an enjoyable trip. Got to see many landmarks i had never seen before.

So that was london! =)

Oh yes, and today being Christmas. Just want to wish everyone a blessed Christmas. Lets live up the Christmas Spirit by doing something special, helpful and meaningful to anyone during this period.

Have a happy new year.
